Technotrans Asia Pacific
Look around you and you’ll find plenty of printed material in your daily life from newspapers, magazines, books, flyers, posters, to all kind of packed goods. The digital age and technology hasn’t changed the way of printing words and images on paper. The paperless office has turned out to be as practical as the paperless bathroom.
The basics of our printing technology is much the same since the past decades. Lithography and gravure employ plates, water, inks and paper. Additionally with it, comes solvents, acids, resins, lacquers, driers, extenders, varnishes and all kind of other witch brew chemicals. Only a few of the ingredients end up directly on paper, but most of it is used in the process, to feed the process itself, or to clean it up. Many of the ingredients are toxic like silver, chromium, cadmium, ethylene chlorides and barium are considered hazardous waste.
What really has changed, is the pollution of our environment and the consequences we, and the future generations, have to live with. Global warming, poisoned rivers and oceans, polluted air and many resulting health issues are our common responsibility, we all have to bear.
Technotrans is one of the first companies in the printing industry, who has just confirmed, the membership of "Global Compact" an initiative of the UN Secretary, Mr. Kofi Anan . The purpose of the initiative is to promote social responsibility among companies, by challenging them to embrace universal social and environmental principles and play an active part in their implementation. "Global Compact" has declared the environmental protection of our earth, as one of their ten principles and we at Technotrans express our intent to support and advance those ten principles within our sphere and influence. Technotrans is already today, the most innovative company in our industry supporting green printing with its products for many years and we are here to say, we are proud of it.
Green printing is not only an environmental friendly commitment, but it saves quite significantly cost to print, it gives green printers the advantage over non-green competitors and enhances the marketing and business edge. There is no standard certification for what makes a printer green, but a combination of various aspects of how a printer implements a policy of protecting our environment and still successfully prints outstanding quality.
Chosen by the judges, whom we all would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for the restless and superb work, this years winner for the first Technotrans Print Award, showed excellent print quality and the combined efforts to be a true green printer. All of Technotrans therefore congratulation the first ever Asian Print Awards "2006 Best Environmental Printer" ……ITC, Chennai, India
